Abstract

Man is the most perfect creation of God among other beings. Have the mind to think and act well on this earth. The elderly man in the judgment of many people is a man who is no longer productive. At a later age sometimes comes the kind of thinking that they are in the remnants of age waiting for death. Although awareness has emerged about the certainty of the coming of this death, the perception or understanding of death may differ in each person or group of people. This research is a type of research with phenomenological research design, the subject in this study is the elderly individuals in the orphanage tresna werdha lotus palembang which amounted to four people. Determination of the subject using purposive sampling and data collection techniques using semi-structured interview and documentation interview method. Examination of the validity of data used is test kredibiltas data. The results of this study indicate that the perception of death in the elderly is an event and a warning that must be felt by every human being, the subject was troubled by the circumstances that will be experienced when sakaratulmaut later and worry died in the circumstances su'ul khotimah. However, all subjects try to avoid the fear and fear by cautious and performing worship such as praying five times, remembrance and away from any prohibition of Allah SWT. Factors that influence the emergence of perception of death are experience factors and environmental factors.
