Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there is significant difference on students’ writing achievement taught by using POW + WWW W=2 H=2 Strategy and those who are taught by using teacher’s strategy to the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Palembang. The subject of this study consist of all of the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Palembang in academic year 2014/2015. In this study, the writer used quasi experimental and applied pretest-posttest nonequivalent group design. The result of this research showed that there was a significant difference on the students writing narrative text achievement. This study used Independent Sample T-Test and Paired Sample T-Test. In, Independent Sample T-Test, the result of t-obtained (0,000) was lower than t-table (0,05) and in Paired Sample T-Test, specified α = 0.025, level of significant was 0.000, degree of freedom (df) was 38, and t-value (tv) was 16.132, and since the level of significance is lower than α = 0.025. The result of questionnaire was analyzed by using Quipper School Indonesia. The result showed that most of students gave positive responses. It means that POW + WWW W=2 H=2 Strategy is successful in improving students’ writing narrative text achievement.
