Abstract

TheHadrami migration to theNusantaraarchipelago rapidly development in themid-19th century. The area first visitedby Hadrami in Nusantara isi Aceh, thenPalembang and Pontianak, then spread again to the cities on the north coast ofJava.Thehadrami sayyidwho had long lived in Palembang or sayyidwho wasborn in Palembang, hereinafter referred to asPalembangsayyid. Palembangsayyids spreading pattern to the Malay Peninsula, can be seen from as early asthe 18th century and began todevelop in the 19th century AD.Themain issuesof this researchare ;HowTheReligioPolitics Role of Palembang Sayyid in theMalay Peninsula on the 18th and 19thcentury AD and the supporting factors oftheReligioPolitics Role of PalembangSayyid in the Malay Peninsula in the 18thcentury and 19 AD.From this study, we can see that the 18th century AD,Palembangduring the reign of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I Jayo Wikramo(1724-1758 CE), Sayyid Ahmad ibn Sayyid Husayn Jamalullail, arrived inPalembang fromHadramaut. For some time he lived in Palembang. SayyidAhmad bin Husin Jamallulail then headed to Kedah.Thedescendants of SayyidAhmadJamallulail was instrumental in the development of thesultanate perlis inthe Malay Land. In the 19th century AD, hasarrived in PalembangaHadramisayyid from Shahabudin clan, Sayyid Muhammad Az Zahir bin Husin binMohammed bin Ali bin Muhammad bin Ahmad Shahabuddin. He became the therelatives with palembang sulthanate. Around the 1780s Raden SayyidMuhammad Az Zahir son of PangeranHusin Shahabuddin, go to Kedah andmarried the sister of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Shah's II (1797-1843M) has ason namedSayyidZainal Abidin(Tunku Kudin). Tunku Kudin Syahidmartyred ina battle with Siam. After analysis of the previous discussioncan be analyzed thatthesupporting factorsof the Religio Politics Role of PalembangSayyid in theMalay Peninsula in the 18th century and 19 AD, as follows: The Fast growingofTrade Route in Indian Ocean,The Sayyidmastery of Arabic Language andLiterature , Networking of Shafi'I scholars in theNusantara archipelago, Theclassical Alliance of Political EconomyRelationship thekingdom in the MalayPeninsula and Palembang, The Sayyid Golden Lineage with the ProphetMuhammadpbuhand the Association Kinshipof Sayyidwith local elites.
