Abstract

Language is commonly connected with linguistic capabilities of individuals. It is considered to be associated predominantly to linguistic intelligence in the theory of Multiple Intelligences. Using the theory of Multiple Intelligences as its starting point, this study aimed to describe how the linguistic intelligence of undergraduate EFL Learners of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang was since it was essential for them as prospective English teachers. The data were collected using observation of everyday activities checklist in the classroom, survey and interview. The results showed thatthere was only small number of the learners used language effectively to persuade others (rhetoric). Furthermore, there was only small number of the learners who remembered the written and spoken information easily (mnemonic). Then, there was only small number of the learners who were able to deliver information orally and written (explanation). Lastly, it was found that there was only small number of the learners reflected language to talked about language itself (metalinguistic). Finally, this results of this study are expected to be benefecial for the students, the managers and lecturers of English Education Study Program to know deeper about the concept of linguistic intelligence as it is one of factors that can influence the success in language learning.
