Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of the application of the model of problem based instruction to the mathematical problem solving skills of the students class VII at junior high school Paradigma Palembang. This type of research is true experimental design with design post test only control design. The population is all students in grade VII in junior high school Paradigma Palembang which consist of 3 classes with as many as 80 students. From 3 population classes wa taken two classes as sample class of VII.C with total student as many as 28 students as experimental class and students grade VII.A with total student 24 students as control class with determinants of samples using purposive sampling technique. This study was conducted during four time meetings in experimental class and control class. In experimental class,the first meeting until the fourth treatment is given in the form of problem based instruction model. Then ,the fifth meeting was measured by post test to know student mathematical problem solving skill. The research data obtained from the test result of student. Based on the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded student problem solving skill for applied mathematic model problem based instruction obtained
