Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether or not there was a significant progress on students’ reading comprehension achievement taught using Story Face strategy to the eighth grade students of SMP N 26 Palembang. In this study, quasi-experimental design was applied. The population of the study was all the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 26 Palembang. The sample of the study was selected by using convenience sample method. The samples of this study were class 8.4 and 8.2, 8.4 as experimental class and 8.2 as control class. Both of class consist of 80 students. This study used match sample t-test. Therefore, it was found 25 pair students that has match score. In finding the significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension average score in pretest and posttest taught by using Story Face strategy. To verify the hypotheses, the score data from pretest to posttest in the experimental and control groups were analyed by using paired sample t-test. The t-obtain was 10.883 at the significant level of p≤0.05 in two tailed testing and DF 24, the critical value of t-table was 2.064. It means that there was a significant improvement in students were treated by using story face strategy. Unfortunately for students in control group did not show improvement.
