Abstract
The objective of the study is to find out whether or not there is a significant difference on the eleventh grade students’ narrative writing achievement of SMA Nurul Iman Palembang between those who are taught by using ART strategy and those who are not. The population of this study consisted of 130 students. By using purposive sampling, there were 66 students selected as the sample. From the students’ pretest scores, 33 students of XI IPA 2 became the experimental group, and 33 students of XI IPA 1 became the control group. In this study, quasi experimental design was used. The instruments used in collecting the data was written test. Analysis by using independent sample t-test revealed that there was a significant difference from the students’ narrative writing achievement. The t-obtained was 3.568, and the t-table was 1.998 at the significance level p < 0.05. Therefore, ART strategy can be an alternative strategy for English teacher to enhance their students’ writing achievement.
